The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed the death of two men who fell inside their company’s diesel reservoir in Lagos on Saturday.
Online Parrot News learned that the incident happened at Ikosi Oregun Area of Lagos State. One of the two men fell into the reservoir and the second one made attempt to rescue the victim. The two of them ended up in the tank.
Efforts were made to safe their lives as the LASEMA team arrived their and convened the victims to the hospital for treatment. Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke- Osanyintolu explained that the two men suffered severe conditions. Hence, they eventually passed on.
“The two male adults earlier rescued this morning by the LASEMA Response Team, resuscitated and transported to the hospital, unfortunately, despite all sustained medical efforts later died. No more updates. Operation concluded,” the permanent secretary said in a statement.
The statement also reads, “Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the victims accidentally fell into the diesel reservoir while working. A second man, in an attempt to rescue the first, also fell into the tank.
“Both victims sustained severe conditions. Emergency responders from LASEMA and the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) provided first aid, including CPR, at the scene. The men were then rushed to the hospital for further medical attention.
“Emergency personnel, including teams from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and LASAMBUS, secured the scene and conducted a thorough assessment to prevent similar incidents”.
