Bandits have carried out another dastardly act in the northwestern state of Katsina killing 21 members of a vigilante. They were reportedly coming from a visit when the bandit struck according to the Katsina State Police Command.
Banditry and kidnapping along with terrorism have become a very serious threat to the national security of the country, Nigeria. Bandits kidnap people for ransom and kill victims who refuse to pay the money.
The command said that the incident happened at Baure Village in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina. It added that 21 persons were killed in the attack.
The public relations officer of the command, Abubakar Aliyu, a DSP, said that the Safana Police Division responded immediately to repel the attack.
“The group was returning from a condolence visit when the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m.
“Police operatives from the Safana Divisional Headquarters responded swiftly, restoring order to the area. Tragically, the attack claimed the lives of 21 individuals.
The command said that it would track down the perpetrators of the crime and that further information would be provided.
“Authorities have pledged to track down those responsible for the attack. Further updates will be provided as investigations progress,” Aliyu added.
