Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has replied the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Umar Ganduje over the debate on the 2027 gubernatorial election in the state.
Yusuf took over from Ganduje in 2023 using the platform of the NNPP, which controls only one state currently. The APC chairman had said that the NNPP won the election because of the the internal issues that the APC was passing through at that time.
He added that Governor Yusuf would soon see the reality and he would be disappointed because the Kwankwasiyya, a group loyal to Rabiu Kwankwaso, was done.
“I can swear to God, if not for our internal issues, he (Kwankwaso) wouldn’t have won any election in Kano. This time around, he will see the reality. Those who supported him before are disappointed and full of regret. Kwankwasiyya is done, and even the governor is unaware of everything happening around him,” he said.
In his response, Yusuf said that Ganduje shouldn’t threaten the good people of Kano State and that anyone who does that will face the consequences.
“Let me be clear, whoever threatens the good people of Kano will face the consequences. We are ready, and I will not hesitate to take decisive action against them.”
He added that he was not worried about 2027 elections because only God gives power.
“As for those talking about taking over power in 2027, let me remind you, power belongs to God. It is He who grants leadership, and we pray that He gives it only to those who have the best interests of the good people of Kano at heart.
“We believe in God, and we know that no matter how many people conspire against us, they cannot succeed if God wills otherwise. We will not be intimidated or threatened
“Our focus is not on 2027. Our priority is to fulfill the mandate entrusted to us by the people of Kano. Our mission is to continue delivering the dividends of democracy and serving our people diligently.
“May God grant us the strength and ability to achieve this and to witness 2027 in good health and prosperity,” he added.
