It appears a former presidential aide to Goodluck Jonathan and a top sociopolitical analyst, Reno Omokri has changed his tone as he subtly attacked a former vice president Alhaji Abubakar Atiku and praised Peter Obi.
Mr. Omokri has persistently criticised Obi and called him all sorts of names to the extent of vowing to pull down the former Anambra State governor if he contests for the presidency again.
But Omokri on Friday said that Peter Obi is the main opposition figure in the country. He said no figure is bigger than Obi and whosoever feels so is being deluded, apparently referring to Atiku.
Since 2019 the former vice president has been playing the role of opposition, criticising the government and contesting elections only to lose woefully.
Omokri said that Obi had retired some people whose name he didn’t mention. He added that only money is helping some persons to still stay relevant.
He posted, “Peter Obi is currently the Number One opposition figure in Nigeria. Bar none. Anybody in any opposition party who thinks that he is bigger than Obi right now is just deluded. The man, Obi, is severely flawed, but I admire how he has trudged on despite the obstacles he faces. Some people in one or two opposition parties have already been retired by Obi, but they just don’t know it yet because their money is keeping them on political life support.”
