The Senate President Godswill Akpabio has stated the condition of Nigeria when Bola Tinubu came in as its president. Tinubu took over power from Muhammadu Buhari on 29 May, 2023. The president of the Senate added that the country was dying as a result of very bad economy.
Akpabio is a very close ally of the president. And he talked about the economy acumen of Tinubu when he was carrying out an “empowerment” programme for members of his constituency at Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District. Online Parrot News reported that he gave vehicles, tricycles, grinding machines, sewing machines, farm implements among other things.
He said that Nigeria was in life support when Tinubu took over because Godwin Emefiele had battered the economy of the country.
“Nigeria was on life support when Asiwaju Bola Tinubu took over. I once asked him, ‘Are you excited about being president after seeing the economy left behind by Emefiele?’ He replied, ‘I must tell you, I didn’t know it was this bad.’”
Akpabio boasted that Tinubu, who was once a Lagos State Governor, would develop Nigeria just as he did to the economic hub of Nigeria.
“You did it in Lagos, and you will do it again for Nigeria. It’s just a matter of time. We are praying for you, and God will grant you the strength”.
