An ex special adviser to Muhammadu Buhari on political matters, Obafemi Ojudu has said that a former vice president Yemi Osinbajo would have performed far better than President Bola Tinubu and a lot of things would have changed in the country.
Osinbajo was Buhari’s deputy, but he was unable to secure the ticket of the All Progressives Congress to run for the last presidential election. Some critics still considered him to have betrayed Tinubu, who nominated him to run with Buhari in 2015 and 2019.
Ojudu said that he was able to work and move with Osinbajo and that he could transform the country. Ojudu added that the philosophy of “Emi Lokan” (it’s my turn) was not appropriate for Nigeria. Tinubu had boasted that it was his turn to lead the country after Buhari.
“I’m not Emi Lokan, I feel that having worked and related closely with the principal of Emi Lokan and worked at the National Assembly and presidency myself, I just feel that the philosophy of Emi Lokan was not appropriate at this time.
“Osinbajo was the best person to govern Nigeria at that time having seen him up close.
“Osinbajo is a visionary and let me tell you this, whoever is going to run this country successfully must not be an individual, he must be one person working within a group of people who have the same vision as him.”
The former presidential aide slammed Tinubu over a number of appointments including the Inspector General of Police, customs and immigration boss and the Chief Justice of Nigeria.
He blasted Tinubu, “You can’t just be a president and have a useless Inspector General of Police, have a useless head of Customs or Immigration or Chief Justice of Nigeria, everybody must sign on to your ideals, ideas, and visions.”
