Former President Muhammadu Buhari failed to make any of the nation’s refinery work throughout eight years he spent in power, yet Mallam Nasir El-Rufai praised him. A former presidential aide to Goodluck Jonathan and sociopolitical analyst Reno Omokri has continued his media attack on the former Kaduna State governor.
The present reaction of Omokri is coming on the heels of the Warri refinery, which the NNPC Limited said it’s now producing petroleum. The other one in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, is said to be functional even though Nigerians are skeptical.
Mr. Omokri said, “For eight years that Buhari was in office, he could not get the Port Harcourt and Warri Refineries working, yet el-Rufai was singing his praises all that time.”
He said that it was wrong for El-Rufai to attack President Bola Tinubu for making the NNPC Limited a property of Yoruba. Mele Kyari, the General Executive Officer of the company hails from northern region as El-Rufai.
Omokri said that El-Rufai’s accusation was false and that El-Rufai used the same lies to turn the northern region against former president Goodluck Jonathan, who happens to be the first sitting president to lose bid for reelection.
The analyst said that Yoruba even deserve to dominate the NNPC Limited because it’s through a Yoruba man that the moribund refineries rise to life and function again.
He said, “But, let us even agree with el-Rufai and say that it is true for the sake of argument. If Yorubanisation can bring dead refineries back to life, then there should be more Yorubanisation! “
