Some unknown gunmen have gunned down a Catholic priest in Ihiala, Anambra State. Kidnapping, reckless shooting are rife in Anambra State and other southeastern states.
The Catholic Diocese of Nnewj has announced the incident. Reverend Father Tobias Okonkwo was shot on Thursday and the diocese made the announcement on Friday. He was a trained pharmacist according to Sahara Reporters.
The slain priest was travelling from Onitsha to Owerri, the Imo State capital when the assailants ambushed him around 8pm. The diocese head Raphael Ezeogu lamented the killing, but said they had comfort in God.
Online Parrot News had reported that an Anambra State lawmaker Justice Azuka was also abducted by gunmen in his state.
