The Oyo State Police Command has reportedly released six of the suspects arrested in connection with the stampede that occurred in Ibadan last week Wednesday.
A former queen of Ooni of Ile-Ife, Naomi Silekunola had organised a fun fair for children as part of activities for Christmas. Interested people trooped out to the venue and overwhelmed it leading to stampede as they struggled to receive N5,000 ($3).
After the disheartening incident, police picked up 7 persons including the former queen. But on Tuesday, Sahara Reporters quoted Daily Post that six of them have been released from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Iyaganku, Ibadan.
Among those released are – Olowola Oluwatosin, Genesisi Christopher, Tanimowo Moruf, Anisoloja Olabode, Idowu Ibrahim and Abiola Oluwatimileyin.
The source said, “Six out of the people arrested have been released. The principal and others have not been released.
“We saw them when they released”.
