The National Social Investment Management System (NASIMS) has given a piece of information concerning the payment of the outstanding stipends for the N-POWER volunteers. The system has posted a statement on its Facebook page.
The N-POWER volunteers have been lamenting the non payment of their entitlements for at least three months now. They actually started working after their deployment in October, 2021. But their payment started in September.
Since the receipt of the September stipends, the NASIMS, an agency in the ministry of humanitarian and natural disasters, has not been able to pay for October, November and December.
The NASIMS has now explained that it removed the November payment from the payroll on the dashboard of volunteers because it was an error. The system said the removal was deemed appropriate at the end of the day. And that payment shall be made separately.
Initially, NASIMS planned to pay the backlogs of stipends together so as to clear everything. But the latest information from the body is that the outstanding stipends would be paid via separate transactions into the accounts of beneficiaries.
Recall that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari started the programme so as to help the teeming youths. At least two batches had been enrolled with millions of beneficiaries. The current batch C, stream 1, has 500,000 beneficiaries.
The ministry has promised that at least four hundred thousand more beneficiaries would be enrolled in the second stream of batch C of the programme.
Investigations show that only September is still reading on the payroll on the dashboards of the N-POWER volunteers as at the time of filing this report.
