I’m not Barren, I suffer from Miscarriages, Obaseki’s Wife Replies Oshiomhole

Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, wife of the Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has replied a former governor of the state Adams Oshiomhole over the issue of barreness. Key players in Edo politics have been mocking one another for not having a wife at home or no child at all. Mrs. Obaseki had mocked the candidate of the All Progressives Congress Monday Okpebholo for not having a wife.

However, Mr. Oshiomhole, who is currently representing Edo North Senatorial District in the Senate replied the Edo State first lady by calling her and Godwin barren.

“I was shocked yesterday to see Mrs. Obaseki, the first lady, saying that our candidate has no wife. She is the most, I’m sorry that she has to say that, because here is a woman who has no child. Between him and Obaseki, they have no child, they are childless,” he said.

Mr. Oshiomhole has been accused of being childish and immature over his comment which seriously ridiculed the first lady and thousands of other women who are yet to have a child.

In a zoom meeting, Betsy Obaseki replied the former governor and APC national chairman Oshiomhole that she’s not barren. She explained that she had had pregnancy but suffered from miscarriages.

She said, “My words of comfort to you, like myself, who have conceived and experienced miscarriages, painful stillbirths, and evacuations of babies who died in our wombs, is this, ‘You are not barren’.

“I dare to call you fruitful. You and I are potential and proud mothers of children who will come in God’s time. Enjoy the life God has given you.

“Take your mind off your challenge, and before you know it, children will start coming.

“My contributions to society have gone beyond the biological aspect of motherhood. Being fruitful is not limited to childbearing. It is about impacting lives and creating positive change in society.”

“There is no point in feeling bad. Women can fulfil God’s purpose in many ways beyond motherhood,” she added.
