Pump Price Hike: Edo Govt Suspends School’s Resumption Indefinitely
The Edo State Government under Godwin Obaseki has indefinitely suspended the schools resumption for the 2024/25 academic session. The government said that the decision became necessary due to the rise in the hike in the pump price.
The NNPC Limited has just sporadically increased the pump price to the chagrin of the people of the country. Already, parents are groaning in pains as private schools also increase fees, textbooks are more expensive.
Ojo Akin-Longe, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, signed a statement announcing the suspension of school activities.
“The Edo State Government hereby announces that the resumption of all public and private schools in Edo State, initially scheduled for Monday, September 9, 2024, has been postponed until further notice,” Akin-Longe stated.
Akin-Longe added, “This decision has been made in response to the rising tension and challenges resulting from the recent fuel price increase.”
