ASUU Sets for Another Long Strike, Gives FG Ultimatum
The Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) is preparing for another round of strike, which usually grounds all academic activities in the federal and state universities. The academics have therefore given an ultimatum to the federal government to address their agitations.
The union’s National Executive Council (NEC) met in the University of Ibadan, Oyo State to deliberate on the matter. And after the meeting, a notice was issued to the federal government as required by the labour law.
The source was quoted by PUNCH saying: “It is not an ultimatum but a strike notice. We are giving them 21 days’ notice, after which we shall embark on strike.”
“Our aim for putting out the notice is that it is a requirement under labour laws so we are trying to ensure that all our actions are done according to the law,” the source added.
