The crisis which rocks All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken another dimension in Kano State. The crisis which revolves around the leadership of the party has finally reached a level that politicians are decamping.
Mr. Umar Ganduje and Mr. Ibrahim Shekarau lock horns over the leadership of the party. Surprisingly, Mr. Shekarau has had upper hands and he is defeating Ganduje. A top member of Ganduje’s cabinet has resigned from his appointment to join Shekarau’s.
Mr. Muhammad Shehu had left his portfolio as the special adviser to the governor on state affairs. He told newsmen that he was leaving the Ganduje’s camp so as to work for the governorship ambition of Senator Jibrin Barau, who is a top member of the Senate.
Recall that both Ganduje and Shekarau slugged it out at the Federal High Court, Abuja. The court ruled in favour of Shekarau and handed over the structure of the APC into his hands. All efforts to shift the paradigm of politics in Kano State APC had failed. Even Mr. Bola Ahmed Tinubu couldn’t change the narrative.
The defection of the special adviser on state affairs has dealt another serious blow to the Ganduje’s camp. While the Shekarau’s side of the APC is growing stronger, the state governor is losing momentum in the struggle for the soul of APC in Kano State.
