The dreaded coronavirus disease has apparently found its way into the presidential villa, Abuja. Some special assistants and aides of the President, Muhammadu Buhari has got the viral infection.
In what appeared as a rumour, initially, the presidency has one way or the other confirmed the presence of the disease in the presidential villa. Mr. Garba Shehu, the senior special assistant to the president on media, had made the revelation.
The online tabloid, Sahara Reporters has given more details on how the disease entered the well fortified presidential villa. The newspaper revealed exclusively that the infection is traced to the turban ceremony of Buhari’s son, Yusuf, in Daura, Katsina State. The emir of Daura had appointed and turbaned Yusuf as a district head in the town.
And on that day, top personalities including the vice president, Yemi Osinbajo and speaker of the House of Representatives Femi Gbajamiabila were in attendance. Governor Aminu Masari (Katsina) and top politicians were there.
Despite the presence of COVID-19 pandemic and the widespread of its omicron variant, social distancing was not observed as guests clustered at the venue of the programme.
Sahara Reporters further disclosed that the president, Muhammadu Buhari is under a close watch. His planned trip to Katsina State has been reportedly cancelled. Recall that the disease killed former Chief of Staff to the president, Abba Kyari last year. The disease has found its way into the seat of power of the country.
