Fubara Threatens Wike’s Supporters As LG Council Crisis Deepens
Rivers State Governor Simi Fubara called an emergency security meeting as crisis around the local government council deepens. On Tuesday, Online Parrot News reported that the governor ordered the Heads of Local Government Area to take over the affairs of their respective local government.
But there were issues in some areas as loyalists and supporters of Nyesom Wike besieged the secretariat headquarters most especially at the Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state. The tenure of the current leaders of the 23 local government areas has expired. And they were “selected” by the immediate past governor Nyesom Wike.
After the security meeting at the Government Secretariat in Port Harcourt, Simi Fubara addressed the press in which he issued a subtle threát to the supporters of Wike and he reassured his own followers of adequate security.
“It’s very unfortunate that we started hearing some disturbing news from some local governments about the invasion of their council secretariat,” he said.
The governor said his administration is aware of the plan of the enemy (Nyesom Wike) to destroy the state.
The governor said, “We are also aware that our enemy is also planning a lot of things. We will not go into a place where we will allow them to destroy the state.”
“I am also aware that there is a grand plan to arrest some of our supporters, this time around, you have to pass through me to arrest them,” he asserted. “I don’t think there is anything that any of those people following us have done other than standing on our side.”
“The law is the law; the law has said that there is no extension of tenure. The court said so. Whoever is assuring anybody otherwise, advise them to desist from it, because peace is what we need for the state.”.
