Israel Launches Attacks On Neighboring Lebanon
Israeli forces have launched a barrage of airstrikes on southern Lebanon as tensions between Israel and Iranian-backed Hezbollah intensifies.
Hezbollah is fighting on the side of Palestinan Hamas, which started the current war with its attack on southern Israel from Gaza on 7 October. Israel has been retaliating since that time.
The Lebanese militant group joined the war the following day. It targets Israeli military facilities though civilians are often caught in the fire between the two warring sides.
Israel has killed several Hezbollah leaders, but that has not deterred the group, which also has political grip on impoverished Lebanon.
The latest Israeli attacks killed a nurse simply identified as Salt Skayki. Her death was announced on X by its users, most of whom rebuked Israel for not accepting ceasefire proposed by the United States President Joe Biden.
“Israel killed Sally Skayki, a young Lebanese nurse, in South Lebanon tonight while she was sleeping,” Sarah said.
Another user, Hadi said that some children were also killed in the attack.
He wrote: “This is who Israel is targeting now. In Lebanon. Not Gaza. While Hezbollah is bombing Israeli military bases, Israel is targeting babies. They are children killers wherever they go. This is their goal. Killing babies. Cowards.”
Howard Beckett wrote: “These are scenes from Jannata in southern Lebanon after an attack by Israel Terrorism.
“Israel rejected all ceasefire proposals. Netanyahu wants a wider regional conflict. It’s the only way he survives. The Hague now.”
