Abia Soldiers Killing: Gov Otti Places N30m bounty on IPOB Members

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has placed a sum of N30m (thirty million naira) on the fleeing killers of five soldiers in Obingwa Local Government Area of the southeast state.

On Thursday, 30 May, gunmen suspected to be members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra attacked the troops of the 144 battalion at a checkpoint, where they were doing patrol. Five of them died from the attack apart from the vehicle that was burnt.

President Bola Tinubu has already instructed the security agencies to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

Mr. Alex Otti has earlier placed a sum of N25m on the culprits. But on Friday, a week after the incident, he added N5m on the bounty. He was hosting the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Hasan Abubakar at Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area.

The governor said, “Interestingly, the government has placed a bounty of N25 million and just yesterday, an Abia son, who also comes from Obingwa and lives in the United States, sent us N5 million to upgrade the bounty to N30 million.

“So I am happy to announce that the bounty has just been upgraded to N30 million, to encourage anyone that will have useful information that will lead to the apprehension of the criminals.”
