Interior Minister Tunji-Ojo Visits Storm-Wrecked Prison
The minister of interior, Mr. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo has visited the facilities of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) that the rainstorm destroyed.
Mr. Tunji-Ojo was at the correctional facility in Suleja along with the Controller General of the service, Haliru Nababa. More than one hundred inmates escaped without injury when the facility collapsed.
The minister posted the visit on his Facebook page with caption.
He said, “Today, alongside the Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Haliru Nababa, I visited the Suleja Medium Security Custodial Centre following the rainstorm that led to the collapse of the perimeter fence of the facility, through which over a hundred inmates escaped.
With about 10 of the escapees already recaptured, we are working with sister agencies to ensure the remaining escapees are found and recaptured.
The government has initiated a sustainable plan to forestall recurrence across correctional facilities in the country.”
