Atiku Visits Suspended Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi
An ex vice president, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku has gone to visit the suspended member of the upper chamber of the National Assembly, Mr. Abdul Ahmed Ningi at his residence in Bauchi State.
The Bauchi Central representative was suspended following issues that occurred in the Senate over the 2024 budget. Ningi accused the Senate leaders including Senator Godswill Akpabio of padding the budget with a sum of three trillion naira.
Akpabio, a former governor of Akwa Ibom State, has denied wrongdoings. He led the house to hurriedly suspend Mr. Ningi, a PDP Senator.
On Monday, Atiku, who was the presidential candidate of the PDP in the last two general elections, went to show solidarity with the federal lawmaker.
He posted pictures and caption of the visit on his verified Facebook page on Monday.
Atiku said, “During a solidarity visit to Sen. Abdul Ningi, representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District, I stressed the importance of preserving the integrity of government institutions if the interests of Nigerians are to be better served and the envisaged development attained.
I assured Sen. Ningi that he is not alone in the battle that earned him a suspension in the Senate.”
