Why All Progressives Congress Sacks & Suspends Chairman Ganduje
The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress has been suspended by the All Progressives Congress (APC). Mr. Umar Ganduje took over the affairs of the political party after the inauguration of President Bola Tinubu.
Ganduje became the national chairman of the party when he took over from the immediate past one, Abdullahi Adamu, a former Nassarawa State governor.
The Ganduje Ward in the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State on Monday declared the former governor suspended from the party.
His suspension can be hinged on the corruption cases he faces at Kano State. The government of the state has dragged him along with his wife and others to the state high court. He has argued that the matter can be handled by only the federal government.
Kano State Government accused him of corruption, misappropriation of funds and bribery to the tune of $413,000 and N1.38bn in bribes.
The political party has not released statement pertaining to his suspension, but it is related to the scandal around the former governor.
- The ward executive members resolved to suspend Ganduje’s membership after a vote of no confidence was passed on him .
- His inability to clear his name from a wide range of allegations of corruption, particularly the widely circulated video where he allegedly received dollars as a bribe from a contractor.
- The former Kano Governor is alleged to have committed gross misconduct and misappropriation of public funds during his administration in Kano.
