Why It’s Difficult For Iran To Successfully Attack Israel

Iran’s regional objective is very clear: it wants to eradicate the Jews, the Israelis from the land and from the region. Tehran seeks total obliteration of the Jewish state and establishment of a Palestinian state from the river to the sea.

To actualize this particular objective, Iran is not ready to be directly involved. It doesn’t want any war on its own territory. Hence, it established what it calls Axis of Resistance with members across the Middle East.

Palestinian Hamas takes instructions from Iran and the resistance group receives weapons and funds from the Iranian regime to carry out attacks on Israel. Hamas is at the forefront and it seeks to establish a state for the Palestinians. The current crisis in the Middle East started when the group surprisingly entered Israel from Gaza through the southern border and killed more than 1,000 Israelis and took up to 200 as hostages to the blockaded Gaza Strip.

Israel started its retaliation almost immediately by invading Gaza and targeted everything, including civilian infrastructure and everyone including women and children. Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister says he wants to totally root out Palestinian Hamas from Gaza.

Most of Gaza has been destroyed. The hospitals, the schools, water facilities, homes have been left as a waste. Tens of thousands of people including civilians have lost their lives.

On October 8, just one day after the Hamas fighters stormed southern Israel, Lebanese Hezbollah, another member of the resistance group joined the war to show solidarity with Hamas. It has been launching its trademark rockets, which have left little damage to Israel. Yemeni Houthis, which is far from Israel is attacking vessels and ships deemed going to Israel. That’s the best way it can show support to Hamas.

On April 1, Israel launched an attack on Iraninan consulate in Damascus, the Syrian capital. Attacking a consulate or embassy means attacking the country itself. Israel killed a top brass in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, one Mohammed Zahedi along with other officers.

Iran started threatening and Israel said it was ready to face the threats from its archenemy, Iran. For almost two weeks the leaders in Tehran calculated so as to have a caliberated attack. It didn’t want disproportionate attacks that can bring the United States directly into the war.

On Saturday, April 13 Iran launched hundreds of drones and missiles. Negligible few of them actually reached Israel and only one little girl was hurt by a shrapnel. An Israeli base suffered from minor damage and it’s back in operations.

The United States along with top ally United Kingdom shot down most of the drones and missiles. The support Israel enjoys from the US and the UK makes it difficult for Iran to hurt Israel. That’s a reality. Whatever the Islamic regime launches from its soil will be intercepted outside Israel’s borders.

The few drones and missiles that reached Israel were also shot down with the Israel’s defence system. Tel Aviv has prepared itself for anything that can happen considering the threats from Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Iran. Its defence is so strong that it can stand up to any threat from the space.

Apart from that, Israel has fully developed nuclear weapons and this is not a secret to Iran, which is looking forward to having its own nukes. Targeting or hurting Israel seriously can lead to a nuclear fight and Israel wouldn’t hesitate to deploy the weapon so as to terminate its main existential threat.
