Stop Giving Israel Weapons, ex US Speaker Pelosi Tells Biden
A former speaker of the United States Congress, Nancy Pelosi has asked President Joe Biden to stop sending weapons to Israel to fight the Palestinian Hamas in the blockaded Gaza Strip.
The US, a staunch ally of Israel, has been accused of complicity in the Israeli operations in Gaza. Thousands of unarmed civilians have been caught up in the war and lost their lives as a result of that. The Israeli Defence Forces pound Gaza and some Palestinian areas in occupied West Bank.
The former powerful American, Pelosi, wrote a letter to Joe Biden along with more than 30 other members of the Congress jointly calling on the American president to stop sales of weapons to Israel.
The letter partly reads, “In light of the recent strike against aid workers and the ever-worsening humanitarian crisis, we believe it is unjustifiable to approve these weapons transfers.”
