Northern Senators Plotting To Remove Akpabio – Senate Leader Bamidele
The leader of the House of Senate, Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele has alleged that northerners are still planning to remove the president of the Senate, Mr. Godswill Akpabio.
The upper chamber of the National Assembly has been thrown into confusion following an allegation that the red chamber engaged in budget paddng. The chairman of the northern caucus in the Senate granted an interview to the British Broadcasting Corporation (Hausa).
Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi alleged that the Senate padded the 2024 budget with three point seven trillion naira (N3.7tn). But the house has not taken it lightly. In a session on Tuesday, the Senate decided to suspend the senator for three months.
The Senate leader, Opeyemi Bamidele argued that those (northern senators) who contested against Godswill Akpabio have not relented in their bid. He said that the northerners have never been pleased to have a southerner in power.
“The last time a Southerner was there was during Obasanjo and they were being changed every time. It was only stable when it returned to the North. David Mark spent eight years, Saraki completed his four years, and Lawan spent his four years. He knew he was lying, he set the public against you, and he will do it again. We must apply our sanction,” Mr Bamidele said.
