Buhari Could Have Assassinated Nnamdi Kanu

The Special Adviser to former President Muhammadu Buhari on media and publicity, Femi Adesina has claimed that the ex president could have assassinated the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra Nnamdi Kanu.

Adesina said that the ex leader of the country just decided to arrest Kanu rather than killing him. Mr. Kanu has been in the custody of the Department of State Services since his arrest and subsequent return to Nigeria from Kenya.

The media aide said this in his book,  ‘Reflections of a Special Adviser, Media and Publicity (2015-2023),’ which was launched in Abuja about two weeks ago.

Adesina said that Buhari expressed his view to Igbo leaders who came to plead on behalf of the incarcerated Biafra republic leader.

“In the past six years, I have developed a system where in which I don’t interfere with the judiciary,” Adesina quoted Buhari as saying.

“That was why in the case of Kanu, I said the best was to subject him to the system.

“Let him make his case in court instead of giving a terrible impression of the country from outside.

“I feel it is a favour to give him (Kanu) that opportunity. Government could have mobilised to eliminate him where he was, but we did not do that.”
