Nigerians ask Tinubu to probe Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila over fraud
Nigerians have called on President Bola Tinubu to probe the Chief of Staff (to the president) Femi Gbajabiamila over fraud. A letter signed by the chief of staff emerged yesterday in which the former speaker of the House of Representatives requested N3bn for verification of national social register.
Some appointees of Bola Tinubu have been involved in corrupt practices and Nigerians are demanding a thorough investigation. The Chief of Staff asked the minister of humanitarian affairs Betta Edu, who is now suspended for corruption, to release three billion naira from the COVID-19 palliative funds.
Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, in the letter, said that the fund would be used to verify the national social register. The development has not gone down well with Nigerians who are now asking the president to probe the former speaker.
Gbajabiamila himself has not provided any reaction to the matter as social media users keep on calling for investigation.
This wouldn’t be the first time the popular politician would come under fire since his principal, Bola Tinubu took over the affairs of the country. Mr. Gbajabiamila was accused of circumventing the decisions of the president most of the time.
