Wike has dumped PDP for APC

Wike has joined All Progressives Congress

There is little or no doubt left that the ex Rivers State governor, who is now the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has joined the All Progressives Congress. The only thing left for him is to summon courage to announce his departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Nyesom Wike has done what members or chieftains of the other side can do. He has worked assiduously against the interest of the PDP. And he has not decided to stay neutral, in fact, he is not neutral.

He was a double-edge sword during the last general elections. He tilted towards the APC presidential candidate and ensured that the party won Rivers State for the first time ever. Rivers State is one of the states PDP wins with ease.

After the general elections, Wike transformed into a leader of the PDP. He did that not out of passion for the political party, but because of his personal interest which is to remain relevant and almost totally in charge of the state. His candidates won.

And since that time, he has distanced himself from the national affairs of the Peoples Democratic Party. Later on he went to pick up an appointment in the cabinet of President Bola Tinubu. He would be the first opposition leader to get a juicy appointment.

The gimmick should be well understood. He doesn’t have the courage to talk to Nigerians that he has dumped the PDP, which made him politically.

His roles in the ongoing crisis in Rivers State is another indication that Wike has joined the All Progressives Congress. Shortly after the matter started, 27 lawmakers announced that they have dumped the PDP. They joined the alternative, the APC.

Definitely, Wike sanctioned their decision. They are more or less the players, while Wike coaches and directs them. The president intervened and an agree was brokered by him in the Presidential Villa, Abuja. After the meeting with the president, the lawmakers withdrew the impeachment notice.

However, one of them, Enemi George, has vowed not to return to his former party. He said that 26 others would not rescind their decision to join the APC.

George, who made this known while speaking on a Channels Television programme ‘Politics Today,’ on Wednesday, explained that 27 of them who moved to the APC were committed to supporting President Bola Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’.

We have crossed the Rubicon. We have moved to the APC. We voted for the President, if we find Mr. President worthy of our votes then I think we should find him worthy of our support.

“We have moved over to join his Renewed Hope Agenda to work hands in gloves with him to ensure that the expectations of Nigerians are fulfilled,” George said.
