Shaibu dares Obaseki, declares for governor’s seat
Edo State Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu has dared his principal and boss, Godwin Obaseki by declaring for the office of the governor of the state. He made the declaration on Monday in an event which he had scheduled for the day.
There have been political rifts between Mr. Obaseki and Shaibu though the Edo State elders made some moves to stop the issues from snowballing into a wider one. The basis of their disagreement is the next year’s gubernatorial election in the state.
Obaseki said that Shaibu didn’t inform him that he wants to contest for the seat, and that the deputy governor was meeting unnamed persons in Abuja for the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Online Parrot News reported how Shaibu later apologized to his principal after the intervention of elders from the state. But the issue didn’t end that way. Shaibu established his campaign organisation and put things in motion for actualisation of his bid for the office of the Edo State governor.
Earlier, the event was stated to hold at Eterno Hotels in Benin City, but his booking was cancelled. The cancellation, Online Parrot News finds out, was done by the owner of the facility, who is a chieftain of the party.
The deputy governor learned from the management of the hotel that Obaseki finishing well group,’ had paid for the same venue.
