Biden Reacts As Israel and Hamas Seal Deal
United States President Joe Biden has reacted to the deal between Israel and Hamas to release some hostages most especially those who hold American citizenship.
Hamas had on 7 October launched a surprising attack on southern Israel killing at least 1,200 and took away more than 200 as captives. Since that time, Israel has conducted both airstrikes and ground invasion on Gaza Strip with a view of rooting out the Islamic Hamas.
Joe Biden applauded the deal in a post on X, formerly Twitter, on Wednesday. Mr. Biden, who has faced both criticism and praises at home on his stance in the conflict, appreciated Qatari Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi.
The two Arab leaders played a key role in the deal between the two warring sides in the restive Middle East.
The tweet read, “I’m gratified that these brave souls, who have endured an unspeakable ordeal, will be reunited with their families once this deal is fully implemented.
“I appreciate Prime Minister Netanyahu’s commitment to supporting an extended pause to ensure this deal can be fully carried out.
“From the earliest moments of Hamas’s brutal assault — my team and I have worked closely with regional partners to do everything possible to secure the release of our fellow citizens.
“Today’s deal will bring home more American hostages”.
