This is the reason I’m fighting Fubara – Nyesom Wike

Embittered former governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike has spilled beans over the matter between his successor and him. Wike and his anointed Simi Fubara are at the loggerheads and this week the incumbent Governor was close to losing his job.

Mr. Wike, who is currently the FCT minister, has said that he was not fight the Rivers State governor because of money. He made this known when some governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party went to appease him.

On Monday, the state House of Assembly started the process to impeach the governor. Fubara was also shot by the police while he was going to the Rivers State House of Assembly complex.

Wike, who boasted that he bankrolled the election of Fubara and other political office holders in the state said that he didn’t ask for contract to the tune of N20bn every month.

His main agitation is that there are plans to cut him off politically in the state. He said that he couldn’t afford to lose his political relevance in the state.

The FCT minister said, “He (Fubara) said they should give him 20 billion every month, oh he said he wants award of contracts for himself. That is politics. But nobody said this when I was fighting. Nobody said that.

“So if you like, accuse me from here till then, I would not even have a sleepless night because as far I am concerned, the right thing must be done. All of us need to be politically relevant.

“All of us want to maintain our political structure. Will you allow one (Fubara) to just cut you out immediately? Everybody has a base, is it not true? If you take my base, am I not politically irrelevant?”
