Amidst the ceaseless attacks of the bandits in the northwestern Nigeria, a popular chieftain of the All Progressives Congress had denied having links with the bandits. He has come out to talk about the very serious allegations against him.
Mr. Kabiru Marafa, a former senator from Zamfara State, has said that his image was being tarnished by linking him with the rampaging bandits. He has released a statement to clearly distance himself from the insinuations that he sponsors any group of bandits.
He argued that he had no link with the dyed-in-the-wool Chadian terrorist called Abdulmuminu Moossa, who was arrested by security operatives in Sokoto State. The suspect was alleged to have claimed knowing Mr. Kabiru Marafa.
In the statement released today, Mr. Marafa claimed that some disgruntled members of the APC in Zamfara State wanted to destroy his reputation which he earned in a hard way. Bandits have launched a series of attacks in northwestern states including Kaduna, Katsina, Sokoto and Zamfara State.
There is an internal crisis in the Zamfara State chapter of the APC. He therefore concluded that the disgruntled ones in the party linked him to banditry.
