Israel hits Orthodox church in Gaza, kills 18
The Israeli military has hit an old orthodox church in the besieged Gaza Strip, Al Jazeera reports. The military says its still avenging the gruesome murder of up to 1,500 Jews killed by Hamas in southern Israel.
Tensions have risen between the armed militants, who also rule the enclave. Hamas launched a serious and unexpected attack on Israeli citizens two weeks ago.
In its reprisals, Israeli military has bombed Gaza repeatedly as it claims to be rooting out the militants. On Friday, the military hit the orthodox church, where several Palestinians are seeking refuge.
The people were given just 30 minutes before Israel hit and bombed the shrine. The church was keeping both Muslims and Christians who have come to seek safety.
Gaza and Arab countries have also accused Israel of being behind the attack on a hospital in the strip. Up to 1,000 people have lost their lives in the hospital. Israelis said that Hamas rocket landed in the hospital.
