Tinubu withdraws appointment of 24-year-old Kashim Imam as FERMA boss
President Bola Tinubu has terminated and withdrawn the appointment of Mallam Kashim Imam, 24, as the chairman of the board of directors of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) with immediate effect.
Nigerians have reacted to the appointment of the young graduate of engineering. While several have commended the president for considering a youth for that coveted post, more others have criticised him for putting a square peg in a round hole.
The president must have come under pressure. Hence, he decided to withdraw the appointment of the young Imam. The statement which conveyed the order of the president was signed by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity Ajuri Ngalele.
The terse statement, which didn’t indicate the reason for the withdrawal said, President Bola Tinubu has directed the withdrawal of the nomination of Engr. Imam Kashim Imam to serve as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA).”
It also explained that the other appointments were not affected. It said, “All other appointments to the Board and Executive Management team of FERMA are not affected by this directive”.
