Ondo House of Assembly puts on hold impeachment process against deputy governor

The Ondo State House of Assembly has put on hold the impeachment process against the deputy governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. The decision to suspend the process became necessary following the order of an Abuja court that ordered a restraint.

The lawmakers started the process shortly after Governor Rotimi Akeredolu returned to Nigeria from Germany, where he travelled to for treatment.

Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa observed that he was on the verge of losing his job, hence, he went to court even before the All Progressives Congress intervened to settle the matter.

Chief Judge, Justice Olusegun Odusola has also refused bluntly to set up a probe committee to investigate the allegations against the estranged deputy governor.

On Friday, the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Olatunji Oshati, announced that the house had suspended the process to impeach the deputy.

The chairman said, “We have considered the letter which is everywhere in the public domain and we are halting the impeachment process until the order of the Federal High Court is vacated.

Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa has denied wrongdoings and said that the process to remove him is a witch hunt.
