How Hamas deceived Israeli army to kill hundreds of citizens
Benjamin Netanyahu announced that his country was in a war. He saw the results of the assault launched by the Islamist group, Hamas, and he was really shocked to see the group carry out such an attack on Israel.
The unaware Israeli army must have thought that Hamas would be unwilling to wage a war or continue its attacks on Israel. But while Israel was calming down and relaxing thinking that Hamas has literally surrendered, the group resurfaced and attacked Israel.
Hundreds of unarmed Israeli citizens were killed in their homes, some were held captives by the Hamas and taken to the blockaded Gaza Strip on Saturday.
A source in Israel talked to Reuters after the Saturday attack. The source, which craved anonymity said that the impression in Israel was that Hamas was not ready to fight. That’s how the islamists deceived Israel.
The source said, “Hamas used an unprecedented intelligence tactic to mislead Israel over the last months, by giving a public impression that it was not willing to go into a fight or confrontation with Israel while preparing for this massive operation.”
Israeli government provides incentives including permission to allow Palestinians from Gaza work in Israel. Benjamin Netanyahu’s Government believes that the opportunities would stop the fighters from pursuing their course.
“We believed that the fact that they were coming in to work and bringing money into Gaza would create a certain level of calm. We were wrong,” another Israeli army spokesperson said.
An Israeli security source acknowledged Israel’s security services were duped by Hamas. “They caused us to think they wanted money,” the source said. “And all the time they were involved in exercises/drills until they ran riot.”
Israel is already carrying out reprisals. But it remains unimaginable how Hamas could carry out an attack of that magnitude.
