Tinubu actually forged the certificate – US-based scholar Kperoogi

A United States-based scholar and writer Farooq Kperogi has argued that the Nigerian president, Bola Tinubu did actually forge the certificate he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Issues surrounding the qualifications of the president have continued to be relevant even though the United States court had ordered the Chicago State University to release all academic records of the president.

The university has obliged and all the information it has released indicated that Bola Tinubu attended the school and graduated in 1979. The documents have been released to the candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, who is desperately looking for means to unseat the incumbent.

The scholar said, “Although he did legitimately graduate from Chicago State University in 1979, he obviously lost his certificate and, instead of applying for a replacement, decided to forge it,” while describing it as “mysterious self-harm”.

The professor further said that Bola Tinubu ought to have applied for a replacement for the misplaced diploma. But he observed that the president didn’t have enough time, hence, he forged the certificate from the Chicago State University.

He explained, “it takes between eight and 10 weeks to receive it (replacement) after filling out the Diploma Replacement Order Form. My guess is that, in the typical last-minute, fire-brigade approach to things among Nigerian elites, Tinubu didn’t plan ahead and didn’t have enough time to apply for his replacement diploma from CSU to meet INEC’s deadline and decided to visit Lagos’ infamous “Oluwole” for a counterfeit replacement.”
