Who kill the soldiers in Imo State? IPOB or ESN?
The Ohanaeze Ndigbo has critically and unequivocally condemned the carnage in Imo State. The state is one of the five that reguall come under attacks of gunmen.
The president general of the apex sociocultural organisation reacted to the attacks launched on security personnel in the restive state.
But till this moment, nobody can specicall say which individuals or groups were responsible for one of the most shocking ambush on the security personnel of Nigeria.
Two groups fighting for the establishment of Biafra Republic often take on security men most especially the army and police. There have been several cases of exchanges of gunfire between either of the two and military personnel.
In the early hours of Tuesday, yet-to-be-identified gunmen ambushed security men at Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State. A number of officers and soldiers lost their lives in the attack.
The army has vowed to bring the perpetrators to book. And a report says there was a reprisal attack on Mbano people in the same state.
Two groups are functioning in the area. The Indigenous People of Biafra has distanced itself from the attack. It said it was not involved in the onslaught. Of course, the IPOB had been involved in some attacks in the past.
One can’t write off the dangerous and proscribed group. It’s capable of launching well coordinated attacks. Yet the statement it made after the attack may mean that IPOB was not complicit in the incident.
What about the Eastern Security Network? The ESN has become far more dangerous in the southeastern region. It enforces the sit-at-home orders on the people, and will never hesitate to shoot any Igbo person who disobeys. The ESN has not said anything on the matter. That means it might probably be the culprit.
