“I’ll run for 4th time no matter what West thinks” – Rwandan president Kagame
One of the sit-tight leaders in Africa, Paul Kagame of Rwanda has said that he would still run for the presidency irrespective of what the West thinks about him.
Mr. Kagame has been in power as the leader of the tiny country since 2000 after the bloody war in Rwanda. But the president didn’t seem ready to relinquish power. Meanwhile h started leading his political party, Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF-Inkotanyi) since 1998.
“Yes, I am indeed a candidate,” Kagame told French-language magazine Jeune Afrique on Tuesday to confirm that he would be candidate in the next year’s presidential election in the country.
The magazine asked him what would be the reaction of the West (the US, the UK and European Union), Mr. Paul Kagame said he didn’t care about what the West says or thinks.
He said, “I’m sorry for the West, but what the West thinks is not my problem. I am happy with the confidence that the Rwandans have in me. I will always serve them, as much when I can.”
