Tinubu has disappointed our Islamic agenda – MURIC
A religion group, the Muslim Rights Concern hs expressed its disappointment over its plans to Islamic agenda to Nigeria through president Bola Tinubu.
The MURIC supported the incumbent president, who ran on the ticket of Muslim-Muslim. There was an uproar at that time when the then All Progressives Congress candidate chose a Muslim, Kashim Shettima, as his running mate.
But the group threw its weight behind Tinubu and gave its maximum support to the APC candidate. But the group has now been disappointed by president Tinubu.
MURIC talked through its head, Professor Ishiaq Akintola. The group argued that Bola Tinubu is now favouring Christians from the southwest geopolitical zone.
The Islamic group released a statement, and a part of it reads, “We are shocked to our marrows that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been appointing Christians and Yorubas mainly to key positions since the inception of this administration at the expense of Muslims.”
The Muslim Rights Concern specifically said that of the eight security chiefs that the president has appointed, five of them are Christians. And the same thing has been observed in the ministerial positions as well.
He said, “For instance, five out of eight security chiefs appointed earlier are Christians. Ministerial posts have not been different.
The group said that Bola Tinubu risked losing the seat because northern Muslims are angry and they may remove their supports fo him in 2027.
Akintola said, Our message to President Tinubu is this (and we want the president’s handlers to take this to him) the cacophony of voices of dissatisfied Muslims has reached an unbearable crescendo such that MURIC is now constrained to speak up. People are complaining, particularly Muslims from the North and South West and they can only be ignored at the risk of foregoing 2027.”
