“Why Atiku & Obi lost to Tinubu” – Soyinka
The Nobel laureate Professor Wole Soyinka has revealed what made both Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi of the PDP and LP respectively lose the 2023 presidential election.
The outspoken Nigerian writer has dropped another bombshell for the followers and enthusiasts of Peter Obi. The top Nigerian writer, activist and public speaker talked at an event in Stellenbosch, South Africa yesterday.
Both Atiku and Obi have insisted and argued that they won the election. The ex vice president came second while the ex Anambra State governor was in the distant third.
The dramatis said that Atiku and Obi inadvertently gave the victory to Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress. Soyinka neither Atiku nor Obi won the poll. The writer revealed that the ballots were counted and the outcome actually tallied with the results.
Soyinka revealed, “Barring such abrupt ‘patriotic intervention,’ however, the last word belongs to the Supreme Court. Until that conclusive hour, wherever and whenever the subject turns to the Nigerian elections, my contribution can be taken for granted in advance: Peter Obi did not win the Nigerian 2023 elections. Jointly with his erstwhile colleague of the PDP, Abubakar Atiku, they donated the outcome, even before the voting.”
Atiku and Obi ran on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party as presidential and vice presidential candidate respectively in the 2019 general elections. Hence, Soyinka called the two presidential candidates in 2023 election as “colleagues”.
