How Nigeria’s Super Eagles pummeled Sao Tome in Uyo in the AFCON qualifiers.
The Nigeria’s Super Eagles dominated the second leg of their match against Sao Tome and Principe. The 3-time African champions had already qualified for the AFCON tournament scheduled to hold in Cote D’Ivoire.
The game was played to fulfill all righteousness. But the Super Eagles didn’t allow the visitors to breathe (as Bola Tinubu once said). The hosts won two halves of the game in the AFCON qualifiers.
Victor Osimhen, a nominee for the ballon d’or, opened the score sheet and his compatriot Ademola Lookman doubled the lead before the first half of the game ended in Uyo.
The second half was far more interesting as the Super Eagles unscrewed the Sao Tome and Principe players. Four goals were scored. The Napoli’s striker, Osimhen scored a brace in the second half to bring his tally in the game to a hat trick.
Likewise, Nottingham Forest’s Taiwo Awoniyi recorded his name on the sheet and Samuel Chukwueze scored the sixth the Super Eagles, who had long secured a ticket for AFCON competition.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria have 15 points in 6 games in the qualifiers and topped the group. The hosts also enjoyed a massive support from the football enthusiasts at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.
