Court of Appeal to Deliver Verdict over Presidential Election

The Court of Appeal has released the timetable for the delivery of judgement in the presidential election. The court released a statement through the office of the registrar.

In the statement signed by the Chief Registrar, Umar M. Bangari and dated 4 September, 2023, the court said that it would deliver the verdict on Wednesday, 6 September.

The court has heard statements and evidence in the matter that Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party brought against Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Bola Tinubu of the APC as the winner of the February, 2023 presidential election. But the two runner-ups are not satisfied with the outcome of the election. Hence, they individually approached the presidential election tribunal.

The statement also revealed that it would deliver judgement in three suites numbered: CA/PEPC/03/2023, CA/PEPC/04/2023 and CA/PEPC/05/2023. The matters were brought by the Labour Party (LP and Obi), Allied Peoples Movement and Atiku Abubakar respectively against all of INEC, APC and Bola Tinubu.

Entry to the premises will be strict and at the same time the verdict will be shown on television.
