Why NLC strike may not hold on Tuesday
The planned industrial action of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) may not hold as threatened by the labour union in the country.
After its National Executive Council meeting few days ago, the congress said that it would embark on a 2-day strike. The NLC accused the federal government of failure to negotiate after the removal of fuel subsidy.
The labour congress also said that the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) was harassed by the police among other issues.
But the federal government has scheduled a meeting with the labour union with a viewing of nipping the strike in the bud. Experiences have shown that once the government meets the union, it normally drops its plans. The strike may not hold.
