Key Reasons Bode George Opposes Tinubu Over His Ambition

2

Bode George has become a key opponent of Bola Tinubu. They are both Yoruba and they are both officially from Lagos State. But Bode George wouldn’t want to see the former Lagos State governor close to the seat of power of the country. There are reasons he seems to oppose Tinubu.

Politically, both Bode George and Bola Tinubu belong to two different political parties. They have not united when it comes to politics. At this moment, Mr. Bode George is a leader or chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party, while Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a national leader of the All Progressives Congress.

That is a very cogent reason. No matter what happens, George would always want the best for the PDP, which he had led at the regional level in the past. That is a main and logical reason Bode George opposes Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In an interview George granted to a popular television few days ago, he made some remarks that showed why he doesn’t want Tinubu to become the president of the country. He mentioned the issue of state of origin of Tinubu. Specifically, George argued that Tinubu is from Iragbiji, which is a very popular town in Osun State.

Even George challenged Bisi Akande, a former Osun State governor, to say the truth about state of origin of Tinubu. In his explanation, George said that the former Lagos State governor has not been truthful about some things including age, academic pursuit and state of origin.

Actually, all these may not necessarily stop an individual from becoming the president, but George believes that Tinubu is morally deficit, hence, he said that the national APC leader shouldn’t become the Nigerian president.

There is another point Bode George raised in the interview. He was afraid that Tinubu’s family would dominate both the state and national politics. He was specific when he argued that Tinubu might be the president, while his son would govern Lagos State and his wife would head the Senate.

Presently, Mrs. Remi Tinubu is representing Lagos Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly. And as an experienced member, she can become the head of the Senate. But Bode George doesn’t want that to happen, hence, he said Tinubu can’t become Nigerian president.

Indeed, Bode George may have some points against Tinubu but are these enough to stop the Jagaban from emerging the president come 2023?
