Abia governor-elect Otti whittles down Obi’s influence
The Abia governor-elect, Mr. Otti has whittled down whatever support or influence Mr. Peter Obi might think he has. The candidate of the Labour Party won the gubernatorial election in the state by beating his closest rivals in the poll.
Mr. Alex Otti is now the only Labour Party candidate to win the governorship election. The Independent National Electoral Commission had earlier suspended the collation of results in Abia State over some irregularities.
The governor-elect argued that he had been in the political party at least one week before Mr. Peter Obi joined the party.
Obi dumped the People’s Democratic Party when it’s crystal clear that he wouldn’t win the ticket of the main opposition party in the country. He immediately joined the Labour Party and went on to claim the ticket.
He has been leading a rather loose movement among youths in the country. Abia State youths have accepted the movement and that might have contributed to the success of Alex Otti in the gubernatorial election.
Mr. Otti said, “I won elections before without Peter Obi, and I joined Labour Party one week before Obi joined us.”
The new Abia governor-elect Otti also admitted that Peter Obi contributed to the success, yet he didn’t win because of the LP presidential candidate.
