Osun: tension rises as Appeal Court delivers verdict today
There are tension across Osun State as the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, delivers its judgement today.
The incumbent governor, Mr. Ademola Adeleke, has appealed the verdict of the Electoral tribunal which sacked him early last month.
The candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the Osun State gubernatorial election, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola had approached the tribunal when he rejected the outcome of the poll.
He argued that there was over voting in more than seven hundred polling units across the state. Hence, he wanted the tribunal to deduct from the votes of the winner, Adeleke. The tribunal reasoned with him.
Mr. Adeleke, who was the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in the said election in Osun State found issues in the judgement that the tribunal delivered. Therefore he headed to the appellate court.
The court had listened to all the arguments from the counsel representing the two sides in the tussle. The court reserved its verdict last week and has now fixed Friday, 24 March for the delivery of the verdict.
