Governor Abiodun wins reelection in Ogun State
Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has secured a second term as the governor of the southwest state. Mr. Abiodun, who is known as “Eleyi” in social media parlance, got a serious chase from the PDP.
The governor, who has been riding on the crest of the All Progressives Congress, struggled hard to beat his only main rival, Ladi Adebutu.
Earlier results showed that Governor Abiodun was trailing behind the business mogul, Adebutu. The incumbent governor polled 276,298 votes to beat the candidate of the PDP, who had 262,383 votes.
The two-horse race has been keenly contested and perhaps he nowhas faced the real hot political test in his career.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared him as the winner having satisfied all the electoral law requirements.
Tensions rose when he lost his local government area to the opposition party. He has fallen out of love with former governor Ibikunle Amosun.
