Conservative north Adamawa produced first female governor
The first female governor may have emerged in Nigeria. The All Progressives Congress candidate, Aishatu Binani, is leading the candidate of the PDP, who is seeking another term in office.
Mrs. Binani has led in Fufore, Yola South, Yola North, Mubi North, Mubi South, Maiha, Mayo Belwa, Ganye, and Lamurde.
By calculation so far, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress polled 409, 909 votes to beat the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party who has had 406,617 votes.
Conservative north has refused to give much opportunity for the female politicians. Of course, women play minimal roles in the politics of the country, but it is most glaring in northern region.
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the PDP in the general elections couldn’t help the party to retain Adamawa State.
