Buhari passes comment on presidential election
The Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari has passed his own comments on the 25 February presidential candidate. The president made his opinion on the matter three weeks after the exercise.
The All Progressives Congress candidate Bola Tinubu won the election having satisfied all the requirements as stipulated in the electoral law.
Muhammadu Buhari made his opinion known through his media assistant Shehu Garba. He said that the election was the best ever in the history of the country. The president made reference to the commendations received from the international community.
The opposition parties: the People’s Democratic Party and Labour Party have criticized the processes that produced Bola Tinubu. They alleged that there were irregularities and disregard for the process.
The parties also accused the Independent National Electoral Commission of failing to upload the results on its portal. The Commission had created a portal for people to view the results live and direct.
There were also pockets of violence in some parts of the country. Ballot papers and boxes were set ablaze by thugs. In fact the Commission had to postpone the exercise in some units in Akwa Ibom and Edo State.
Yet the president said that the election should be adjudged the best in the history of the country.
