UK PM Sunak under attack for congratulating Tinubu

The UK PM Sunak has come under serious fire and criticism for congratulating Bola Tinubu, the newly elected president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The prime minister had joined other leaders from across the world to felicitate the ex Lagos state governor over his victory in the presidential election on 25 February.

But this has not gone down well with Nigerians in the diaspora, most especially in the United Kingdom. They have taken to the social media including Twitter to condemn the action of the UK PM Sunak.

As if that’s not enough, they have taken to the streets with placards to protest against the decision of the prime minister. On the placards they claimed that it’s too soon for the UK premier to congratulate Bola Tinubu.

The Labour Party candidate Peter Obi and his counterpart in the People’s Democratic Party have approached the court to seek nullification of Tinubu’s victory in the presidential election.

Some of the placard carrying protesters also said that INEC did selection instead of election. They have been calling on the UK PM Sunak not to recognize Bola Tinubu as the president of the country.

Lots of followers of Peter Obi are in the United Kingdom. Several thousands of Nigerians have migrated to the European countries including the UK when the state of economy became poorer.
